Hades was not fond of this indoors stabling business. It was boring. It was boring and awful and he was done with it. He had no food too! The nerve! Stomping a hind leg, he backed up and raked his teeth over the edge as he worked out what to do about this stall business. He hadn't seen anyone so far, and his rider was most certainly late - at least, in his eyes. He wanted out and by damn he was going to have his time out. It was in his favour too that the top gate was open; he would find his way out of this box!
He stopped chewing the gate edge long enough to snap at his companion through the bars. He had something of a thing, a flare, for bullying the shit out of the other horse - that stupid minded bay. He tried to bite at his nose through the bars, the action causing the other horse to skitter back and fall on his hindquarters with a snort. At least it made him get away from the bars and leave him alone.
Turning, pacing, Hades went back up to the gate and did a small hop, brushing up against the gate with his chest. Maybe he could jump out of here... There wasn't much lead up for it, but he wanted to get out to pasture! Roll in the grass and chase who ever was out there! He backed up until his rump hit the wall and tried again, shying off the jump last minute. Still no one around... He tried again, backing up and this time, this time he committed to the jump, just barely getting himself through and out. Snorting, he looked back around before slowly, effortlessly walking off in the hopes that he'd find food or better yet have a free path to victory and the pasture.
Narc was curious about what was going on over in the stall beside him as the grey horse paced about. He didn't want to be left out on whatever was going on. He wanted to play too! He stuck his nose through the bars and nickered at the stallion curiously, only to be snapped at! Pulling back rapidly to avoid his face getting ripped apart, he slipped and backwards with a thud, snorting loudly. Why was he always so mean? He got up and picked up his teddy from the ground where he'd left him and watched.
He neighed loudly as the other horse got out - he got out! He wanted out too! Nickering he started looking to get out too, he didn't want to be alone! But his top dividing gate was shut and he couldn't do the same or even try it... His friend was walking away! He turned quickly, jamming teddy through the bars rough before following suit, putting his head through the bars. So far so good, now for the rest...
He backed up a little and tried to jump, only smashing his body into the sturdy wall, the suddenness of it causing him to drop his sole comfort into the other stall. He could get it though... or not. Narc tried to reach down to where his teddy lay in the bedding but there was no give. Shrieking, he pulled back - if he could get dad's attention... But there was no getting back either. Narc squealed, head stuck in the bars to the other stall and he couldn't grab teddy - he was going to die! He needed teddy back and he needed his dad and that was that! He tried to pull backwards again, two-three times with no luck. Tried to jump a through again, but that wall was still there - why was it still there?! Screaming, Narc froze, his whole body shaking from nose to tail - where was dad?!
there were times when max found himself thinking, why am i still in this town? it wasn't like him to stay in one spot to long without getting itchy feet. he'd been here since he'd had to recover from being injured in the field and while he was healed now, there was no sign that he was up and leaving town like his family had all expected him to do. he hadn't said it out loud but there was some things that were keeping him in town longer this time, and he was currently driving towards two of them. they hadn't been in his life all that long but they'd become a big part of it, namely because of their, quirks? quirks wasn't the right word max thought, absolutely bonkers was a better description of them.
one was evil incarnate to some people, but to max hades was just picky about who he wanted in his life, around his stall and walking the surface of the earth. making small children cry and picking on max's other horse seemed to be two of the main ways that hades passed his time. speaking of narc, that was one of the strangest horses he'd ever come across, which was what had made him to intriguing to max. he liked challenges and these two came with so many of them. he pulled his ute into one of the empty spots at his brother's barn and he jumped out nimbly, reaching into the back seat to grab the bag of treats he always used to bribe hades into doing what he wanted.
it was almost bedlam the moment his feet landed on the ground. he could hear narc from outside, the frantic screams coming from the horse echoing out of the open barn doors and he found himself taking off into a jog towards them. he crossed the threshold of the barn just in time to watch the rump of one of his horses walking down the barn, away from the stall he should have been safely locked in and he stopped for just a second. "for fucks .." he said as he let out an exasperated sigh and he shook the bag of treats, hoping to grab his attention. "oi, god of the world under, get your ass back here." he called as he shook the bag of treats while walking to investigate what had happened to narc.
he saw it the second he reached the stall and he would have burst out laughing if that would have made the situation any better. he quickly ducked into the empty stall his horse should have been in and he reached down to grab the teddy. "you're okay narc." he said as he left the stall to walk to the door of the distraught horses stall. "here you go." he held the teddy over the door and wiggled it a little, knowing that he'd settle slightly once the animal was back in his mouth. "hades, you better be walking your ass back this way!" he called back over his shoulder, shaking the treats once again. one might think that the horse on the loose was the bigger problem in that moment, but max was worried that narc was about to drop dead of a heart attack.
